Bienvenidos a Puerto Escondido

Oh boy.....it sure is lovely and warm here. Such a sweet little series of bays and lagoons. And birds galore of course. Excepting the huge skuas floating above, almost all of the birds are hues of yellow! And we haven't been on the birding tour yet! Our little casita has a palapa on the roof overlooking the hood and some of the ocean. Yes, we did watch sunset from our hammocks last nite. Wow. Our "landlord", Gina turns out to be a local gem and treasure trove of local politics, history and info in general.
Our routine doesn't amount to much, which was our plan. Down to our little beach (Playa Carrazalillo, 170 steps) while the sun is less intense, and body surfing. Then, resting for evening exploration. Superbowl on the fairly loud and uncouth surfing beach, Zicatela, was not near as interesante as Coretta's tribute with Maya Angelou, et al, that I happenned upon at a hotel TV one day while hunting for WiFi signal (Mac is tough for some reason).
We move from our beach casita into a friend of Gina's lower level in town soon, overlooking the Playa Principal and town proper. Anne will fill you in there. We hope all of you are doing well and think about you often.

Chris

Hi you two. Really sounds as though you have it made. Please include more pic's of your roof-top view. All things going smooothly here at St M's except that we hired some one to rake more leaves and he filled about 25 bags and isn't finished yet! You came cheaper and made a good go of it. Now we have to get rid of the bags. Maybe by spring. Love ya --

hey - it's nic just sayin' "bonjour." here on campus the weather has been beautiful (Portland, OR). Training for the Duluth Marathon in June, however, I have been running too much and have a lower leg injury, so a little cross training will be happening in the swimming pool.

I want to see more pictures of the waves! I feel so landlocked here (France will be the same). However, I received an invitation to the Pays Basque (Basque Country), where the surf is supposed to be incredible. Well, I love you both sooo much (and yes mom, dad and I worked out the finance and he said that him and I will talk about it when it is his turn - he insinuated "yes," but we both know that my father likes to think things over. Well, gotta jet

love nic

Dude and Dudess,
aaaaahhhhh, mexico, and its right there next to us. When you get to San Cristobel, be sure to go to the coop craft market, don't eat street food, even tho it will smell so good. And check on the map Aqual Azul, if it is near by, go. It is very very very beautiful.

Our plans are coming along just fine, we are about 2 months from putting our house on the market, storing our stuff, we are right behind you. Mano man is there a lot to do to jump out side the box. We are doing it, and you are leading the way, and we are even going to get a blogspot, then head to Bali, China, and maybe back to Fiji. mark & elizabeth

Hey, guys! Found a moment to browse your blog (finally) and love all the photos and comments. Looks pretty darn sunny down there. We got some DC snow last weekend but mostly melted by now. Was pretty there for a day. Geoff turned 17 last week and celebrated by cutting his hair! It turns out that keeping my mouth shut worked in the end. Joe reports he is skiing tons. We hope he is also studying but can't confirm. I'm still up-to-eyeballs in course work, but having fun trying some distance learning for my Saturday class. (Produced a little radio show with several interviews of experts for this week's class, and posted it online for the students to access. Pretty cool for me.) Charlie and Craig just bought 11 more pregnant cows, and a bull! The original 10 mommy cows were named for female writers (the Writers' Guild), and their babies are the Civil War battles, so we named the newer girls after flowers (I wanted a Daisy), so we're calling them the flower children. The bull is Woodrow (don't ask why), so I said the new set of babies should be named for presidents (with a Woodrow we need a Wilson), and two have been born so I think they are Wilson and Madison. When the rest of these babies drop in March, we'll have a herd of about 43! You can spot Woodrow in the field--he looks like the pictures of Ferdinand in the children's book. Bulls just seem to have a different shape. We're going out this weekend to check on the gang.
I'm working on a story about how I became a cattle rancher when I was looking.
More later! We miss you, but hope you are doing well and having a blast!
